The 6th Tokyo Food Film Festival, a celebration of delicious films and food, will be held from October 31st to November 13th at Theater Image Forum in Shibuya, Tokyo, as well as at various restaurants around the city.
The Tokyo Food Film Festival brings together films that depict people connected by food, and films that feature memorable food. This year, the festival will upgrade its ever-popular Restaurant Screening, which allows viewers to enjoy a meal related to the film while watching a film at a restaurant, and will propose ways to enjoy films and food that suit each style of restaurant. In addition to Meguro's BEARD, Minami-Aoyama's OVE, and stopover tokyo, which sold out tickets immediately after tickets went on sale last year, the festival will be held at new restaurants. The first wave of films announced for screening this time includes Yasujiro Ozu's timeless masterpieces "Autumn in the Barley" ('51) and "Fried Green Tomatoes" ('92), recent hits like "The President's Chef" ('13), and this year's smash hit "Chef: A Three-Star Food Truck Starts" ('15). Also on the list are "FINDING GASTON," which has yet to be released in Japan, and "Midnight Diner," starring Kaoru Kobayashi. A second wave of films will be announced at a later date. Furthermore, the San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain, which will be held from September 18th to 26th, will be introducing a new award last year: the "Tokyo Food Award." The award recognizes a film that carefully depicts the festival's concept of "the connection between people and food" and features memorable scenes featuring food. The winning film will be screened at the "6th Tokyo Food Film Festival."
