The New York-based music event, "Blue Note Jazz Festival," will make its Japan debut on September 27th at the Red Brick Warehouse in Yokohama.
The festival, which began in 2011, is a major event that features jazz legends, new-generation artists who inherit the jazz spirit, and DJs performing live shows day and night at various clubs and halls in New York for a month. Now, renamed "Blue Note Jazz Festival in Japan," it will make its Japanese debut as a one-day outdoor festival.
On this day, artists from a variety of genres who play high-quality music will gather in Yokohama, the "city of jazz," under the keyword "jazz." Guitarist Pat Metheny, who continues to be at the forefront of the jazz scene, will perform a collaborative performance with the "BLUE NOTE TOKYO ALL-STAR JAZZ ORCHESTRA," which has received rave reviews at jazz festivals around the world.
Guitarist Jeff Beck, who has created an innovative sound by boldly incorporating jazz and fusion into rock with his own band, will inject a rock spirit into the quintet with Nicholas Mayer, who is active in the UK jazz scene.
Other artists scheduled to participate include the Robert Glasper Trio, Incognito, Snarky Puppy, and Hiatus Kaiyote.
