"Heart in HaaT," a textile exhibition by HaaT, a brand developed by ISSEY MIYAKE INC., is a special exhibition focusing on textiles made in Japan. The exhibition, which took place in Tokyo in August last year and in Tenjin, Fukuoka in May this year, will be held at Hankyu Umeda Hall in Osaka from August 14th to 22nd.
HaaT is a fashion brand that "draws inspiration from textiles," founded in 2000 with textile designer Makiko Minagawa. From the beginning, they have been committed to using textiles made in Japan, developing them in collaboration with local producers, and incorporating various innovative techniques into contemporary clothing. These textiles are created by combining Japanese materials with the brand's unique perspective and incorporating ingenuity to ensure comfort and lightness. This special exhibition, hosted by Issey Miyake, will showcase clothing and accessories from its 15-year archives, showcasing warm textiles while utilizing cutting-edge Japanese technology, while also highlighting the techniques used to create them. The exhibition will also feature images of droplets and water droplets, enticing visitors into the microscopic world of fashion textiles, creating a space where visitors can enjoy new discoveries. A talk event featuring Makiko Minagawa will also be held at 2:00 PM on the 15th. Makiko Minagawa commented on the exhibition, "We have been creating materials through a mutual exchange of ingenuity with our spinning, dyeing, weaving, and knitting technicians. As material production in Japan becomes increasingly difficult, I would like to take another look at this process. I would also like to introduce the textiles born from the techniques we have collaborated on together with a sense of gratitude."
Also, on the 16th, OYA artisan Bolan will be invited to the Kotokoto Stage on the 6th floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store to introduce the delicate handiwork of Turkish embroidery. There will be two lectures, from 2pm and 4pm, each lasting approximately one hour.
