PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE's exhibition "PRISM," focusing on photographer Francis Giacobetti, kicked off on June 12th. The exhibition venue, the DAIKANYAMA T-SITE GARDEN GALLERY, featured a three-screen setup in a U-shape, displaying an installation in which photographs of dancers wearing Pleats Please ISSEY MIYAKE pieces were projected one after another. Giacobetti skillfully captured the exquisite forms of the dancers' clothing and beautifully captured the vibrant colors of the textiles. The myriad images by Giacobetti, changing one after another like a flood on the screen in time with the music, truly evokes the title of the exhibition, "PRISM."
Yugo Nakamura of the design studio "tha ltd.", which worked on the film, attended the press preview. Nakamura explained the production concept, saying, "Because the exhibition space is very compact, we wanted viewers to feel as if they were entering the photographs. As the title suggests, the film creates the feeling of looking at the photographs from inside a prism. The music was also created from scratch by a composer to match the film."
