Andrea Pompilio and Onitsuka Tiger release collaborative shoes

Jan 10, 2013

Italian designer Andrea Pompilio and Onitsuka Tiger have teamed up to release the "MEXICO MID RUNNER DX." The design is based on Onitsuka Tiger's classic line. The upper is made of mesh and comes in white and fluorescent yellow. The shoes will be available at Andrea Pompilio retailers worldwide from early January 2013, and at Onitsuka Tiger retail stores and select shops in Japan, Europe, and Asia from mid-February. A total of 1,200 pairs are planned for sale in Japan. Priced at ¥14,700, the shoes are available in sizes ranging from 23.0 cm to 29.0 cm. This collaboration was made possible by Andrea Pompilio's loyal Onitsuka Tiger brand. The collaborative collection will begin full-scale release in the Fall/Winter 2013 season. Under the theme of "Rock and Skate," the collection proposes a new street style that blends urban everyday wear with sporty elements. Designer Andrea Pompilio was born in Pesaro, Italy in 1973. After studying fashion in Pesaro and Milan, he worked on designs for brands such as Prada and Yves Saint Laura, building his career in Milan, Paris, and New York. He presented his own collection in the Fall/Winter 2011 season and won the Best New Designer Award for his Spring/Summer 2012 collection at Pitti Uomo (the world's largest men's fashion trade fair, held in Florence in June 2011). He is considered one of the most promising Italian designers of the future. Furthermore, a model appeared with her shoes hanging from a bag at Andrea Pompilio's fashion show held at Pitti Uomo in June 2012. Through this project, ASICS aims to improve its global brand image, develop new fashion-conscious distribution channels, and attract new customers.
