The follow-up to last year's "70's Harajuku: Original Landscapes," "70's Harajuku Vol. 2: Fashion & Music" will be held at Harajuku Bath Art Gallery from September 4th to 8th.
The 1970s was the era when Harajuku began to create fashion and saw a surge in youth music. Founded by stylist Nakamura Non and run by volunteer staff, this event will bring the Harajuku of the 1970s back to life through the work of famous photographers who were young at the time, along with hit songs from the era.
The venue will feature works by photographers featured in the photo book "70's HARAJUKU," which was released on August 25th. Participating photographers include Yasuo Yokogi, Yasushi Hirokawa, Somegoro, Masahiro Nogami, Herbie Yamaguchi, Kiyoshi Tatsukawa, Gulliver, Takeshi Ishikawa, Sawatari Saku, Masayoshi Sukita, Hideo Fujii, Jouji Ide, Kenji Miura, Toru Kogure, Kaoru Ijima, Yutaka Sakano, Noriaki Yokosuka, and ZIGEN.
In addition, every night there will be talk shows with pioneers who shaped the era, as well as parties featuring the performers. Talk show guests include Yasuko Takahashi and Michihiko Yanai on September 6th, and Hiroshi Fujiwara and Yoshiro Shikata on the 7th.
In addition, from September 4th to 18th, Daikanyama T-Site will be hosting another photo exhibition by photographers featured in the photo book "70's HARAJUKU," offering a different selection of works from those featured in the main venue. The exhibition will feature photographs capturing the real customs and scenery of the 1970s, including the now-defunct Cafe de Rope and churches, as well as works featuring Yamaguchi Sayoko and Tachi Hiroshi.
