Nike and Liberty are releasing a new collaborative collection, "THE NIKE X LIBERTY SUMMER '15." The collection features the Merlin print, originally designed by Liberty for a silk scarf in 1972. The print features a scattered geometric pattern of colorful circles and squares. Its unexpected and eye-catching aesthetic complements Nike footwear and apparel, both old and new, creating a unique collection. Additionally, the collection features a reissue of the Nike Air Rift, originally released in 1996, as its base item. The upper features a Merlin print. This piece combines technical materials, adjustable fit technology, and designs designed to smooth foot movement, which were just beginning to be explored at the time. Other items include the Nike Zenji, which features a subtle Merlin print behind the logo, and the Nike Tennis Classic Ultra, which combines a Merlin upper with a white tongue for a more refined look. Merlin print also appears on the uppers of the Nike Air Max 90 Ultra and Nike Cortez. Meanwhile, apparel includes the Nike QS Liberty Windrunner Jacket, which features an all-over Merlin print, the Nike Liberty Tee, which features print on the hem and sleeves, and the Nike Women's Liberty Cap, which features print on the bill. The Nike Air Rift will be available from May 4th, and other items from May 15th at NIKE.COM/SPORTSWEAR and select Nike Sportswear retailers.
