The "Annie Leibovitz World Tour," an exhibition of new photographs by world-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz focusing on portraits of women, is scheduled to open in January 2016. Led by UBS, one of the world's leading financial groups, the year-long exhibition will travel to 10 cities around the world, starting in London and continuing on to Tokyo, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico City, Istanbul, Frankfurt, New York, and Zurich. The newly created works for this traveling exhibition are a continuation of the "Leibovitz" project, which was inspired by the portrait photobook "Women," published approximately 15 years ago in collaboration with writer and essayist Susan Sontag. The publication of "Women" was accompanied by an exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and has become a highly popular and enduring photobook. The newly created works for this traveling exhibition will also be titled "Women," reflecting the changing role of women in modern times. Admission is free.
In addition, the exhibition will be accompanied by a learning program in collaboration with cultural institutions around the world. In this program, young people from local communities will work together to explore different ways of seeing and perceiving things through photography.
