This time, we will be introducing NADiff Aichi, the Aichi/Nagoya branch (2nd basement floor of the Aichi Arts Center, 1-13-2 Higashisakura, Higashi-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture).

■ "Art Botanical Garden BETWEEN BOTANY AND ART" Fukuoka Maki, Soeda Kazuho, Onodera Natsu

The official catalogue for the "Art Botanical Garden" exhibition currently being held at the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art. The exhibition begins by defining "artistic plants" as "plants that humans have recorded in a wide variety of ways, including botanical illustrations, paintings of the four seasons, paintings of flowers and birds, botanical specimens and rubbings, landscape paintings, botanical photographs, and installations using artificial flowers." It then spans the period from ancient to modern times, dividing them into six sections (storing, collecting, seeing, transferring, creating, and studying). The museum's exhibition rooms are likened to greenhouses, allowing visitors to appreciate the diverse ecology of plants as if strolling through an artistic botanical garden. This book follows this same format, divided into six chapters, and its binding, designed to resemble a handbook-style encyclopedia, makes it an inviting read. Nadiff Aichi will be offering a collection of works, practical guides, artist goods, and botanical items in conjunction with this exhibition, as well as plants (cacti and succulents) that cannot be brought into museum exhibition rooms. The exhibition is an independent project of the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art and will run until October 4th, with no travelling to other museums.
