Sacai's first bag collection is here! Six hybrid designs of classic bags and coin purses

Oct 3, 2016

sacai has unveiled its first collection of transformable bags. The collection, infused with the deep knowledge of British designer and former creative director of Marc by Marc Jacobs, Katie Hillier, features six pieces that explore the archetypes of classic bags while incorporating sacai's signature hybrid elements. All pieces are multicolored and feature a mix of different materials, including canvas, leather, crocodile, and mink. The lineup includes the "Coin Purse," which combines a classic coin purse with a duffel bag and features interchangeable tabular handle straps, chains, and shoulder straps; the "Satchel Flap Bag," which reconstructs the classic bag frame; and the "Tote Bag," available in two sizes (small and large), which allows for different looks by flipping the satchel flap over or tucking it inside.

Regarding this collection, designer Chitose Abe said, "For women, bags are an important element that expresses their identity. I wanted to create a collection that expresses authentic luxury while also having the potential to become a completely new presence in the always dynamic bag category. It's modern, adding Sacai's signature playfulness to true luxury."

The collection was released in advance and in limited quantities at colette in Paris on October 3rd, the same day the 17SS collection was announced in conjunction with Paris Fashion Week.
