Chitose Abe's sacai held its 2016-17 Autumn/Winter collection show in the ballroom of the Palais de Chaillot in Paris. The collection reinterpreted sporty utility wear, including military and biker jackets. Calligraphic text from Whitney Houston's minor hit "Love Will Save the Day," a garage classic for Paradise Garage, which has been using graphics since Pre-Spring 2016, was scattered across various pieces. Many coats featured double sleeves with satin sleeves attached within, and were decorated with fur and bondage straps. Jacquard looks also featured graphic interpretations of calligraphy. "Love Will Save the Day" calligraphy danced across leather jackets and embroidered sheer tops, while a sheer dress with lace ribbons also featured the words "Love Will Save the Day" when viewed through the ribbon. The words "Love will save the day" also appear on a see-through dress embroidered with the image of an emblem patch.
It may be that they were trying to subtly convey the peaceful message that "love will surely save us," but the collection was edgy, combining strength with kindness.
