Jul 27, 2021
The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu (Address: 204-2 Kiyomizu 2-chome, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) has been listed as one of the four pavilions, which represent extremely comfortable accommodations, in the hotel category of the Michelin Guide Kyoto, Osaka + Okayama 2021. To commemorate this achievement, starting August 1, 2021, the hotel will be offering an accommodation plan at Kodaiji Jyugyuan (Operated by Hiramatsu Co., Ltd., 4-17-3 Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), a nearby restaurant that has been awarded one Michelin star. Enjoy Japanese cuisine, a part of Japanese culture deeply connected to the seasons, at the hotel.

The Michelin Guide is a globally renowned gourmet guide that assigns stars to outstanding hotels and restaurants. In the hotel category, the comfort level of accommodations is represented by a pavilion mark. The number (1 to 5) indicates the level of comfort and service, and our hotel has been listed as one of the four pavilions.

Kodaiji Jugyuan, where you will enjoy Japanese cuisine as part of this plan, is listed in the guide with one star, making this a collaborative project between two Michelin-starred restaurants.

■You can watch a video of Kodaiji Jyugyūan Temple here. Kodaiji, Kyoto, a town beloved by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and his wife, Nene, still retains its rich history and charm in its beautiful streets. Nestled within this area is Kodaiji Jyugyuan, a historic Japanese house constructed in 1908 by master carpenters Uesaka Asajiro and Kitamura Sutejiro. Its beautiful and grand appearance, built using the traditional sukiya-zukuri architectural method, remains undiminished even after 110 years. Overlooking the house is a Japanese garden designed by renowned gardener Ogawa Jihei VII, Ueji, who is credited with laying the foundations for modern Japanese gardens and who designed many gardens, including the Heian Shrine Gardens, Maruyama Park, and Murin-an Garden. The main garden, which lavishly utilizes the vast grounds, offers a tranquil experience of the beauty of Japanese culture, with fresh greenery in the summer and autumn leaves rustling in the fall.

Using the finest ingredients nurtured in Japan's climate, our dishes depict the four seasons of Kyoto on plate, overflowing with the freshness of the ingredients and powerful flavors, and filled with the aroma of the seasons.

Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime Kyoto cuisine experience while looking out over the beautiful Kyoto cityscape from our traditional and prestigious Sukiya-style building.
