■ "SHINJI OHMAKI"

Using the keywords "space," "time," "gravity," and "memory" as themes of "matter, space, and existence," artist Shinji Ohmaki (1971-) creates dynamic installations and public art pieces that transform exhibition spaces into extraordinary worlds and awaken the viewer's physical senses. By using various techniques to visualize the invisible and allowing the viewer to experience them, he attempts to create a new space for physical perception. This book features representative works from the "Echoes Infinity" and "Liminal Air" series, spanning the period from 2000 to 2016. The binding, featuring a vividly colored hardcover printed beneath the soft, white cover, features the familiar pattern of the "Echoes Infinity" series. Currently, the artist is participating in the Aichi Triennale 2016 and holding a solo exhibition at Art Front Gallery. For the former, his works are exhibited in three locations: the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, the Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Nagoya Building (Sakae), and the Toyohashi Arts Theater PLAT (Toyohashi). He is also involved in a wide range of art festivals, having been responsible for the body decoration designs for the velotaxi and Prius vehicles that run through the city. Echoes Infinity - Eternity and a Moment, located in the 10th floor exhibition room of Aichi Prefectural Art Museum, is a work in which vivid patterns of flowers and birds spread across the floor in a pure white space, and from October 11th, the work is undergoing a major transformation as visitors will be able to freely enter the space. Please also pay attention to how the pigments on the white floor mix together with the viewer's participation.
