Takashi Homma exhibition currently being held in Okayama, with workshops on pinhole cameras and tea rooms, and a screening featuring the artist himself.

Oct 6, 2016

An exhibition by photographer Takashi Homma is running at CCCSCD gallery in Okayama Prefecture until October 27th. This is Takashi Homma's second exhibition at the gallery. This time, 13 works from his series paying homage to American artist Ed Ruscha are on display. Among them, "SCANDINAVIAN MUSHROOM" is a homage to Ed Ruscha's "COLORED PEOPLE," published in 1972. The original's succulent motifs have been replaced with mushrooms, and the photographs were taken in Europe and the United States. "NINE SWIMMING POOLS" is a homage to Ed Ruscha's artist book of the same name, his first color work. While the original featured uniform pools, Takashi Homma's version features a series of pools with a wide variety of variations. "THIRTYFOUR PARKING LOTS" is a homage to Ed Ruscha's highly acclaimed artist book, published in 1967. Filming took place in parking lots around the world, and the original has been faithfully reproduced, from the layout to the binding.

In addition, a pinhole camera workshop, "Homma Takashi Pinhole Camera x Sifaka Tea Room Workshop," will be held on October 15th. On the day, a new technique will be implemented that makes a tea room appear in a guest room. Homma Takashi himself will also be invited to perform a screening of his video works, which will be shown for the first time, as well as a live performance. Please note that reservations for the event on the 15th will be given priority.
