"Red Brick Terrace" to open in Sapporo's historic district in August

May 11, 2014

Mitsui Fudosan and Japan Post will open the Sapporo Mitsui JP Building complex on August 28th.

With 20 above-ground floors, three below, and a total floor area of approximately 68,000 square meters, the building will house offices, commercial facilities, an observation deck, and more. The commercial facility, which will occupy five floors from the first basement to the fourth above ground, has been named Akarenga TERRACE. It will consist of approximately 30 stores, including retailers and restaurants, and aims to make the most of the surrounding environment. It will also be directly connected to the Sapporo Ekimae-dori Underground Pedestrian Space, which opened in March 2013, creating a lively atmosphere that is integrated with the surrounding facilities. The store tenants and commercial design will be announced on May 26th. The central area of the Hokkaido Prefectural Government Office is a historic district that includes the Red Brick Government Building, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, rows of ginkgo trees over 100 years old, and the oldest surviving wooden block pavement laid under the Sapporo Kita 3-jo Plaza, which is currently under construction.
