Hibiya & Komazawa Oktoberfest to be held in May. 50 types of beer lineup

May 15, 2014

"Hibiya Oktoberfest 2014" will be held from May 16th to 25th at the Fountain Square in Hibiya Park, Tokyo, while "Komazawa Oktoberfest 2014" will be held from May 30th to June 8th at the Central Square of Komazawa Olympic Park in Tokyo.

Now in its 12th year in Hibiya and its second year in Komazawa, this event is the Japanese version of Oktoberfest, the world's largest beer event held in Germany every year from mid-September to early October. The venues will be decorated to resemble the original Munich, with authentic German beer, German-made tents, benches and tables, folk music and costumes. Each venue is expected to attract more than 80,000 visitors. The Hibiya Park-exclusive "Einbecker Ur Bock Dunkel," the Munich classic "Hacker-Pschorr Münchner Hell," and the non-alcoholic "Paulaner Radler" will be making their Japanese debut. The lineup includes over 50 varieties of German beer, made directly from malt, hops, yeast, and water, including the Oktoberfest-exclusive "Oktoberfest Märzen." There will also be over 100 German dishes to pair with beer, including the Bavarian specialty roast dish "Schweinshaxe" and a "1kg Mega Set of Extra-Sized Mussels" in natural and garlic flavors. There will also be a live performance by a German folk music troupe, ethnic costume rentals (for women), and sales of original merchandise and merchandise imported directly from Munich. Opening ceremonies will be held at both the Hibiya and Komazawa locations starting at 6:00 PM on the first day.
