Sonia Rykiel has appointed Julie de Libran as its new artistic director, replacing Geraldo da Conceicao. Her first collection will be released in the Spring/Summer 2015 season.
As the brand continues to expand globally, centered around its flagship line, Sonia Rykiel, Julie de Libran, who has experience working for prestigious brands such as Prada and Louis Vuitton, was appointed. She aims to embody the Rykiel philosophy, which has been passed down since 1968, while making a strong and clear statement.
"I am honored to join Sonia Rykiel, a brand I admire and who is part of my world. I respect the image of woman that Madame Sonia has proposed. I look forward to designing the next chapter," Libran said. Sonia's daughter, Nathalie Rykiel, said, "Julie, a French woman with international talent, truly embodies the Rykiel woman."
Libran served as design director for womenswear and ready-to-wear at Prada from 1998 to 2008. From 2008 to 2014, she served as creative director and studio director for womenswear and ready-to-wear at Louis Vuitton, and was the right-hand woman to Marc Jacobs.
