The two-person exhibition "The Noom Induction" by Rene Spitzer and Hiroki Tsukuda will open at NANZUKA in Shibuya, Tokyo, from May 31st. In addition to Spitzer's recent and new works and Tsukuda's new works, the exhibition will feature a collaborative installation by the two artists. The works are inspired by a single reality and science fiction, based on the idea of multidimensionality, where the probability of something existing arises the moment it is imagined. The word "Noom" in the exhibition title is the name given to the pilots of an innovative spaceship developed on a planet created by Spitzer, and carries the connotation of "those who travel to other worlds, those who guide people to better answers beyond preconceived notions." Spitzer is a young artist born in Germany in 1978. He graduated from the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 2009 and has exhibited not only in Germany but also in Boston, the Netherlands, and London. This will be Tsukuda's third exhibition in Japan, following "Zwei Walder" (Kyoto) in 2012.
Tsukuda was born in Kagawa Prefecture in 1978. He graduated from the Department of Film and New Media at Musashino Art University in 2001 and has been active internationally, holding exhibitions in Germany and the Netherlands. He has held three solo exhibitions at Nanzuka, including "BLACK OUT THUNDER STORM" in January 2014.
Spitzer and Tsukuda met at Art Cologne in 2011 and shared a mutual worldview. The following year, in 2012, they held a two-person exhibition, "N = R* x fp x ne x fl x fi x fc x L," at Tokyo Cultuart by BEAMS.
