At the Ginza Stationary Festa, held at Ginza Mitsukoshi from Wednesday, January 23rd, a limited-edition "Leather-Wrapped Pencils" (3,675 yen) in collaboration with leather brand YUHAKU will be available.
These pencils are luxuriously wrapped in 0.3mm-thick, thinly spun leather, with the ends twisted like candy, and can be used immediately after sharpening. This set of five pencils in red, yellow, blue, green, and purple comes with an eraser in a light blue leather cover.
YUHAKU is a leather goods manufacturer founded by craftsman and designer Nakagaki Tomohiro. Since its predecessor, Ameno Spazio (Italian for "comfortable space"), the company has been known for its hand-dyed colors, and in 2011 it held hand-dyeing demonstrations and custom-made events at Isetan Shinjuku and Harajuku Comme Ca Stage. His wide range of activities include working on costumes for films and commercials, and producing the leather-wrapped USB memory sticks used in the Tokyo Olympic bid presentation.
