The Maramotti family, founders of Max Mara, have been awarded the Whitney Museum of American Art's 23rd annual American Art Award.
The award recognizes individuals and organizations who have made lasting contributions to America's art and cultural heritage. The Maramotti family was recognized for their longstanding support of the arts, including displaying their art collection at the Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Max Mara has also sponsored the Whitney Art Party since 2013 and is a major supporter of the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Also receiving this award are Dorothy Liechtenstein, president of the Roy Liechtenstein Foundation, for her dedication to art and culture, and the Andy Warhol Foundation, which has provided approximately $250 million for the creation and presentation of contemporary art. Maria Giulia Maramotti, retail manager for Max Mara USA, attended the 2014 Whitney Art Party in New York on May 7th on behalf of the family. Many celebrities wearing Max Mara dresses were seen at the event, including Zoe Saldana, who played the heroine in the film Avatar (2009), casting director and fashion blogger Natalie Joos, Emmy Rossum, who starred in The Phantom of the Opera (2004), and model Emily Ratajkowski.
