Isetan Shinjuku is running a campaign focusing on Brazil called "Abraços do Brasil: Embracing Brazil." The Re-Style section on the third floor of the store's main building will feature Brazilian photographer Marcelo Gomes. Marcelo Gomes is a Brazilian-born photographer currently living in New York. He originally came to the US to play basketball, but met fashion photographer Mark Bothwick and became his assistant. He went independent in 2008 and has since worked on advertising for brands like Levi's and Urban Outfitters, as well as appearing in Harper's BAZAAR and the New York Times. In Japan, he has also worked on seasonal visuals and catalogs for apparel brands like Digawel and niuhans. This time, the store will feature an exhibition and sale of Marcelo Gomes's new works, as well as limited-edition items such as T-shirts, notebooks, and coasters printed with his works (T-shirts will be made to order). The store will showcase a world captured with his unique color sensibility, including works that blur magenta and turquoise green. Upon visiting the store, Gomes said, "As someone born in Brazil and educated in the United States, it was difficult to clearly answer the question, 'How have I been influenced by Brazil?' But when I saw my works on display this time, it made sense to me that I was indeed influenced by Brazil." A photoshoot will be held by Gomes himself from 2:00 PM on the 3rd, where he will photograph customers who visited the store.
