To celebrate the January opening of its first flagship store in China at the Kerry Center shopping mall in Shanghai's Jing'an district, Michael Kors held a special event, "Jet Set Experience," at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport on May 9th. Many guests from both China and abroad were invited.
The highlight of the event was the "Exclusive Fashion Show." Michael Kors showcased looks from past archives to the brand's "Jet Set Collection," emblematic of its identity. The show's overall theme was a jet-set vibe. Using various lighting, LEDs, and strobes, the designer created a 3D representation of Michael Kors' four favorite cities—Shanghai, New York, Capri, and St. Moritz—making the audience feel as if they were instantly transported to each location. The show also featured a runway show, holographic videos, and live performances, creating a unique and dynamic experience. These effects were achieved using a video projection system called "Musion Eyeliner." Actresses Hilary Swank, Freida Pinto, Camilla Belle, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also attended the event, and Ai Tominaga, a Japanese model, appeared in the show. A cocktail party celebrating the opening was held at the Michael Kors Kelly Centre store the day before. The event was attended by the designer himself, as well as models Miranda Kerr, Isabeli Fontana, Michael Kors advertising model Carmen Pedaru, Hong Kong actress Carina Lau, Chinese actress Gao Yuanyuan, Taiwanese model Lin Chiling, and Chinese model Ming Xi.
