Valentino will open its flagship store in Shanghai on November 14th. The store is located in the IAPM Mall along Huaihai Middle Road in the heart of the city's business district. The two-story store, the second largest in the world after Milan, spans over 790 square meters. Architect David Chipperfield designed it in the image of a palazzo, based on the new boutique concept proposed by creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. The store is divided into an accessories area reminiscent of a study, featuring vertical mosaics, and rooms featuring iconic elements of the brand, such as marble chips from Carrara, Tuscany, white plaster walls, parquet, terrazzo marble floors, and moldings.
Items are displayed on carbon fiber racks and shelves arranged along the edges of the room. The LED lighting incorporated into the fixtures is planned to eliminate the presence of the shelves. The ceiling lighting is based on hidden lighting and clear white lights around the periphery of the room, while a chandelier combining brass bezels with optical lenses in various shapes is placed in the center. A pendant chandelier has been placed in the space in the center of the main staircase.
A ribbon-cutting and opening ceremony will be held at 1pm on the 14th, followed by a runway show of a special design collection by Chiuri and Piccioli from 9pm.
