■ We were so excited we woke up early, so let's start with breakfast!
From Katase-Enoshima Station, it's about a 10-minute walk to DIEGO BY THE RIVER, located along the Sakai River. This restaurant is based on the concept of "a seaside restaurant loved by locals" and is a place where time flows slowly. Breakfast is only served on weekends.
The interior of the restaurant, which was previously a guesthouse, has been renovated. The restaurant has a different atmosphere, with one space reminiscent of a fast food restaurant overseas with its striking pink walls, another retro space in the back with vintage furniture, and an open terrace seating area. The interior is such that you'll want to sit in a different seat every time you visit. The store was designed by the unbeatable duo of Yamamoto Uichi, who is said to be the driving force behind the cafe boom, and architectural designer Omiya Ichiro, who sadly passed away last year. Women returning from early morning surfing and couples enjoying breakfast dates spend their holiday mornings relaxing here.
■ Breakfast to "share" with Dad
So, the couple ordered two popular items from the store: the "Morning Plate" (850 yen) of homemade meatloaf and salad, egg, hash browns and bagel, and the "Morning Pancakes" (700 yen) topped with berries and fresh cream.
For the morning plate, we recommend the meatloaf sandwiched between bagels. It was just the right amount of filling for a hungry breakfast for two people. The "Morning Pancakes" had a refreshing taste, with fluffy pancake batter topped with plenty of fresh cream and the tartness of yogurt adding an accent.
The restaurant's interior and delicious breakfast will make a wonderful start to your day. We also recommend it for lunch or dinner. In the evening, you can enjoy a panoramic sunset with Enoshima in the background. Why not enjoy a relaxing time here on a date or with friends?
