It's about an hour's train ride from Tokyo. Seeing the ocean from the train window makes me feel like a kid again. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city, slip into your sandals, and you're ready! The ocean and blue skies will make your day a bliss. FASHION HEADLINE focuses on the Shonan area, a town perfect for such a day trip.

Today, model Patricio and his son Haru will guide us through the streets of Shonan. They'll introduce recommended cafes, restaurants, and even beach activities.

■ Lunch: A Stylish and Delicious Curry Restaurant Inside a Furniture Store

For lunch, we chose "Curry and Furniture. sii house," a curry restaurant run by a furniture store, located in a quiet residential area just a five-minute walk from the south exit of Tsujido Station. Using a map, we found the restaurant just beyond a cute sign.


You walk through a narrow path lined with furniture-making tools displayed as art objects and enter the store with a sense of excitement in your heart, and the warmth of the wood and the greenery of the garden jump out at you. The stylish interior is a mix of retro and modern styles, giving you a nostalgic feeling of returning to the countryside and a new feel.



"My husband and I renovated a 60-year-old private house," says furniture maker and chef Araki. The long table seating along the veranda, which offers views of the lush garden, is particularly impressive. The restaurant is surrounded by carefully selected furniture, including tables and chairs made by the owner himself, as well as vintage furniture, and is so popular that some people have even held weddings there. Once you've visited, it's a space you'll want to keep secret.

■ Curry rice perfect for the hot summer! The children's curry is also authentic.


I immediately ordered the signature dish that has been on the menu since the restaurant opened: "Chicken, Tofu, and Green Onion Keema Curry" (900 yen). The minced chicken and tofu combined with curry spices create a fluffy texture. The crunchy mizuna (Japanese mustard greens) that accompanies the dish, along with the spices of green onions and chopped ginger, ensure that you can enjoy the texture and flavor until the very end.


And for Haru, we ordered the "European-style Curry" (S size: 650 yen, M size: 800 yen) from the kids' menu. This European-style curry, full of the sweetness of slowly simmered vegetables, is served with a reduced spiciness for children. The colorful vegetables in the thick roux are also beautiful to look at. It's an authentic curry that you wouldn't believe is for kids.



■A curry restaurant where you can also order custom furniture


Inside the store, cupboards and tables made by Araki are on display and for sale. He also accepts custom furniture orders and home renovations. You can also feel the Araki couple's sense of style in every detail, from the tableware served to the objects and miscellaneous goods decorated inside the store.


After filling your stomach with delicious curry, why not enjoy some after-dinner dessert and spend some time with family, friends, or just by yourself? The trees inside the store and the greenery of the garden will soothe your soul.
