"Taiyo no Marche," a new urban market where you can eat, shop, learn, and experience, one of Japan's largest, will be held on September 10th and 11th at Tsukishima Dai-ni Children's Park in Kachidoki, Tokyo.
This year marks the third anniversary of "Taiyo no Marche." This year's theme is "Fruit Harvest Festival," and visitors can enjoy freshly picked, seasonal autumn fruits such as grapes, pears, plums, and apples. Grape varieties include Shine Muscat, Pione, and Kyoho grapes from Yamanashi Prefecture's Amano Vineyard, as well as Goldfinger, Beni Ballad, and Nagano Purple grapes from Nagano Prefecture's Ito Grape Farm, which is celebrating its 63rd year in business this year.
In terms of pears, in addition to Housui and Kosui from Ushiku Farm in Chiba Prefecture, we will also be offering Shinkansen from Tottori Iwashiya, and tree-ripened pears from Mizuho no Mura Ichiba, which are slowly ripened on the tree. Furthermore, Nomiya will also be selling Kaori pears, which are said to be a "phantom pear" by some due to the difficulty of cultivation and limited shipping volume.
Other products include Kelsey, a type of plum that has been cultivated in Japan since ancient times, from Tenbin-ya in Nagano Prefecture, as well as Sudachi from Kamiyama, Tokushima Prefecture, which boasts the highest shipping volume in Japan, from Satoyama Mirai, and star fruit from Okinawa, from Aman Roots, and extremely early-ripening mandarins from Citron et Citron. Also on sale will be the Carol 10 cherry tomato from "Marche de Fruit," which has thick flesh and a high sugar content, and corn from "Forest Vegetables (komafarm)," which has a refined sweetness similar to that of raw milk soft serve ice cream.
There will also be a number of events, such as workshops where you can create your own original "decorative garden" and make fake sweets cell phone straps that look just like the real thing.
