Oryza Louis Legrand, founded by the family of Marie Antoinette's perfumers, has released a new fragrance.

Aug 31, 2016

Oriza L. Legrand, founded by the Fargeon family, the family of Marie Antoinette's perfumers, will pre-release its new fragrance, Cuir d'Aigle Russie Eau de Parfum (100ml, 16,500 yen), at the Isetan Shinjuku store on September 1st.

This fragrance is a modern reinterpretation of Cuir d'Aigle Russie, created by Oriza Louis Legrand during the Golden Age of the Russian Empire, when the upper classes lived glamorous and extravagant lives. Popular in the 19th century, Cuir d'Aigle Russie was named Cuir d'Aigle Russie (Russian Eagle Leather) after the double-headed eagle featured on the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. This reissue recreates the nostalgic, aromatic oriental scent beloved by Russian emperors. Bergamot and coriander open the fragrance, followed by the warm, exquisite combination of cardamom, rose de mai, and immortelle, which blend with the balsamic notes of labdanum and benzoin, evoking the nostalgic scent of satiny leather. Transcending time and space, the opulent scent beloved by Russian aristocrats has been revived. The fragrance is presented in a package reminiscent of an Art Nouveau artwork. The fragrance will be available at Isetan Shinjuku on September 1st, followed by a nationwide release on October 1st.
