MyGOD.jp, a luxury e-commerce site operated by MyGOD Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo), which opened on June 24th, is generating a lot of buzz.
The site has invited world-renowned designers, stylists, and fashionistas to act as curators, and has named them "GODs." The site offers a lineup of high-end products recommended by these GODs. The company's president, Katsumi Kuwana, commented, "This is Japan's first high-end e-commerce site. We only handle high-quality products." The first products released at the same time as the opening include the luxury motor yacht "AQUARIVA SUPER" (¥96.6 million), selected by Ryuichi Kamikage, CEO of Ryu Company, the official Japanese dealer of "Riva," known as the Rolls-Royce of the motor yacht world, and the "Alligator Mini Stam" alligator leather bag by MARC JACOBS (¥2.73 million), designed by stylist Kyoko Kame.
Other participating GODs include Kentaro Matsuo, creative director of the magazine "ENGINE," designer Masaki Matsushima, and Gwenael Nicolas, who has designed stores for MOYNAT and LOUIS VUITTON.
To celebrate the opening, a campaign is being held until the 31st in which users who register their email address on the site will be entered into a lottery to win a ¥100,000 gift certificate (GOD Money).
According to a public relations representative, "The response since the opening has been great, with both access and the number of registered members increasing. A big GOD is also scheduled to appear in the summer."
The company was established in March of this year, with Kuwano, former president of the Gilt Group, which operates a members-only family sale site, as its representative director, president and CEO. The chairman of the board is Sakai Toshio, who previously worked at Itochu Corporation and served as vice president of Armani Japan, CEO of Yves Saint Laurent Japan, and president of Bally Japan, and the executive officer and buyer is Muramatsu Noriyasu, who previously worked at United Arrows and is currently director of QUAI DE VALMY.
