Experience culture with all five senses. Meiji Memorial Hall reopens with a new look on June 16th

Jun 16, 2021
Meiji Memorial Hall has been a part of Japanese culture since a time when Japan was perhaps even more global than it is today. The new Meiji Memorial Hall will treat the entire building as a gallery, a welcoming facility where cultures intersect in an age of globalization and diversity, and will begin offering services that provide opportunities for new discoveries and value.

Meiji Memorial Hall (2-2-23 Motoakasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo) is proposing new services that allow you to utilize its lush, 3300m2 garden for a variety of purposes. It can now be used in conjunction with 14 banquet halls of various sizes. All first-floor banquet halls facing the garden have terraces, allowing for smooth access to the garden and making it ideal for a variety of events, including exhibitions, product presentations, business meetings, art and fashion events, and more.

Located in a corner of Meiji Jingu Gaien, it is surrounded by lush greenery despite being in the heart of the city. The garden's natural grass is replanted in summer and winter depending on the season, maintaining a vibrant green color all year round.

The sophisticated space, free of unnecessary decoration, allows for the main features and projects to stand out, and the use of a dimming and color adjustment system allows for lighting effects that control color temperature and brightness. Picture rails and acoustics are also built in, making it suitable for a variety of uses, such as events and exhibitions.

[About the Meiji Memorial Hall]
The Constitution Memorial Hall and Meiji Memorial Hall Main Building were built in 1881 as the Imperial Dining Hall of the Akasaka Temporary Imperial Palace (Japan's first State Guest House) on the site of the current State Guest House. In 1888, the Imperial Conference to deliberate on the draft Constitution of the Empire of Japan was held here. In 1947, it opened as a general wedding venue. In 2020, the main building was designated a Tokyo Metropolitan Tangible Cultural Property (building) in recognition of its historical and architectural value. The building was temporarily closed from February 1st to June 15th, 2021 due to facility renovations. It reopened for business on June 16th, 2021.
