Rhizomatiks, the creative group behind Perfume and au commercials, unveils new installation

Jan 26, 2013

Creative company Rhizomatiks' new installation, "pulse 3.0," opens at the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media on January 27th. This is the 15th installment of their "scopic measure" exhibition series, showcasing the works and projects of cutting-edge artists. A live performance will be held on the 26th, prior to the exhibition. This latest installment integrates and significantly updates the group's previous installations and showcases, incorporating laser beams, video, sound, and robotics. It's a challenging attempt to push the boundaries of human expression by addressing the limits of human hearing and vision through technology. The exhibition space will also feature a dance performance by the dance company "elevenplay," led by MIKIKO, known as the choreographer for the idol group Perfume; a live performance by sound artist Taeji Sawai; and a DJ set by musician Ametsub. Rhizomatiks is a creative group whose members include media artists Daito Manabe, Motoi Ishibashi, and Satoru Higa. They have attracted attention from overseas, with their innovative visual direction for Perfume's live shows and an au TV commercial in which lights dance across Tokyo to the music of Daft Punk. They were also featured in the latest issue of the magazine "SWITCH."
