Okada Orimono, a luxury goods manufacturer overseas, develops faux fur shawl suitable for both Japanese and Western styles

Jul 8, 2013

Okada Orimono (headquarters in Hashimoto City, Wakayama Prefecture), a maker of faux fur, moquette, and pile fabrics in the Takanoguchi region of Wakayama Prefecture, has developed a faux fur shawl for this fall and winter season for the Japanese clothing industry. This was requested by a wholesaler specializing in Japanese clothing, and retail prices are expected to be in the ¥20,000 range. The shawl is designed for both Western and Japanese styles, allowing it to be worn with Western-style dresses. It comes in two styles: one with a ribbon fastening and one with a clip fastening. Both styles come in four colors: plain white, plain black, Bambi print, and leopard print. An order exhibition has already been held through the wholesaler, and orders have been going well. The company is likely to produce additional shawls and develop new colors and patterns. The current order is for furisode kimonos (long-sleeved kimonos) to be worn at the Coming-of-Age Ceremony in January of next year. Recently, demand for styles suitable for both Japanese and Western styles has been increasing.

The faux fur produced in Takanoguchi has a soft texture similar to real fur and is known to be highly rated by luxury brands in Europe and the United States. Okada Orimono also continues to do business with these luxury brands every year.
