In 2021, Rado is showcasing its iconic Captain Cook watch for the first time in high-tech ceramic, a material chosen from the storied and renowned Master of Materials brand's treasure trove of carefully selected materials.


[Lengnau, Switzerland – June 2021] 2021 is a year of hope and rediscovery. Rado is launching a revolutionary new timepiece. The Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic is the culmination of Rado's decades of research and development combined with the history and heritage of the Captain Cook watch.

The development of the Captain Cook collection in high-tech ceramic represents Rado's DNA in its purest form. It features Rado's innovative high-tech ceramic monobloc case construction, the scratch-resistant and hypoallergenic nature of high-tech ceramic, and the high-quality Rado caliber R734 with Nivachron™. The innovative Nivachron™ protects the watch from various magnetic fields, providing benefits in everyday life.

For the first time, the Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic is available in four styles, each with a 43mm case size. The first features a black high-tech ceramic case and bracelet with a hardened stainless steel rotating bezel and a black high-tech ceramic bezel insert. The second features the same case and dial paired with a rubber strap for a more casual look. The third model also features a black high-tech ceramic case and bracelet with a contrasting rose gold-colored PVD-coated stainless steel rotating bezel and a black high-tech ceramic bezel insert. The fourth model features a highly distinctive plasma high-tech ceramic case and bracelet with a hardened stainless steel bezel and a blue high-tech ceramic bezel insert.

All four Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic models are powered by the Rado caliber R734, offering an 80-hour power reserve and water resistance up to 30 bar (300 meters). The dial and caseback are crafted from attractive black sapphire crystal, and their skeletonized design allows for a view of the movement and its delicate movements, while also making the time easy to read.

The triangle and indexes on the bezel, as well as the classic Captain Cook thick arrow hands on the dial, are coated with white luminescent material Super-LumiNova(R), making them visible in low light. Rado's iconic rotating anchor is located at 12 o'clock, and the beautiful sapphire dial is protected by a box-shaped sapphire crystal.
