Musician and DJ Fatboy Slim was born on July 13, 1963, in Broomley, England. His real name was Norman Cook. He began living in the English port city of Brighton during his university years, and began his musical career in earnest in 1985 when he was invited to join a friend's band. The band achieved popularity, reaching number one in the UK charts in 1986, but disbanded in 1988. Norman subsequently produced records under several pseudonyms, focusing primarily on dance music. He began calling himself "Fatboy Slim" in 1995, and his 1998 album "You've Come a Long Way, Baby!" became a huge hit, sparking the big beat movement. His beach parties in his hometown of Brighton in 2001 and 2002 were a huge success, attracting 250,000 people. In response to this, the official Fatboy Slim-approved party, "BIG BEACH FESTIVAL," is held every June in Japan, and this year's 5th anniversary was held on June 1st. Norman was the headliner in 2009, 2011, and 2013. He also appeared at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, where a giant octopus-shaped DJ booth appeared in the center of the stage and he performed two of his own songs as well as remixes of songs by Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, and Taio Cruz.
