HYKE, launched this fall/winter by two former members of the group "green" after a three-year hiatus, will hold a special event featuring their debut collection and exclusive Isetan items at The Stage on the first floor of Isetan Shinjuku from August 7th to 13th. The event will feature six exclusive items: a trench coat made from their original high-density gabardine (¥75,600), a rider's jacket made from thick leather (¥152,250), two sweatshirts—a parka (¥23,100) and a crew neck (¥18,900), and two cut-and-sew styles—a striped long-sleeve top (¥9,975) and a tank top (¥7,875). Their first season, this fall/winter, is inspired by "navy." The collection features a full range of items, including coats, sets, knitwear, dresses, and shirts, all with navy and U.S. Navy themes. Also on display will be a wool cap made to order from New Era and shoes made with leather from a long-established leather workshop.
The concept of the new brand HYKE is "HERITAGE AND EVOLUTION: uniquely evolving the history and heritage of fashion with our own sensibilities." Designers Hideaki Yoshihara and Yukiko Oide said, "Our approach of using standard items as a base and reconstructing them with our own unique sensibilities remains the same as before, and we have deliberately chosen not to create a theme."
The two started GREEN in 1998. From the AW 05 collection, they had been presenting their collections in Tokyo in the form of a runway show, but their activities were suspended after the SS 09 collection.
