Long-established Kyoto yuzen maker "Chiso" releases sparklers with the wish for love again this year

Jul 20, 2013

Chiso, a long-established Kyoto yuzen dyeing company founded in 1555, has released their popular sparklers again this year. This year, marking the fourth year since their launch, they are being blessed at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto with the hope of connecting people.

Chiso's sparklers are handmade in Japan and are now produced in extremely limited quantities. The pine soot contained in the gunpowder is sourced in Miyazaki Prefecture and is wrapped in washi paper. The sparks begin with a peony, then transform into gorgeously spreading pine needles, an elegant and delicate willow, and finally a dusting chrysanthemum.

A box of 25 sparklers (5 bundles) costs 3,150 yen. In addition to the company's own store in Kyoto, SOHYA TAS (2nd floor, Senso Building, 80 Oguracho, Sanjo-dori Karasuma-nishiiru, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto), the products are also available at CIBONE, The Conran Shop, Spiral Market, and other outlets.
