FRED PERRY has collaborated with artist Michiko Takahashi to release the "100x35" tenugui (hand towel) (¥2,310), an iconic item from Takahashi's brand "HIROCOLEDGE," and the "SLEEVE BAG" (¥3,465), a bag made from sewn tenugui. These items are available at Fred Perry stores and the official online shop. The design features the circles and straight lines that are symbolic of Takahashi's work, adorned with the Fred Perry laurel mark. The designs were created using the "chusen" dyeing technique, a tradition dating back to the Meiji era, at the Kyowa Dyeing and Sarashi Factory in Sakai City, Osaka. Each item is available in five colors. Fred Perry and Takahashi collaborated for the first time for the "60 Years Gallery" project, commemorating the brand's 60th anniversary. Takahashi created a polo shirt inspired by a tennis ball. The collaboration between the two will continue into the 2014 Spring/Summer season, with plans to sell polo shirts. Takahashi was born in 1977. He completed his doctoral studies at Tokyo University of the Arts, receiving his PhD in Fine Arts. In 2006, he founded Hiro College. He has an atelier shop in the 2k540 commercial facility located beneath the elevated tracks between Akihabara and Okachimachi stations. Currently, a pop-up shop featuring Takahashi's new 2013 works is being held at the National Art Center, Tokyo's "Souvenir from Tokyo" shop until August 5th.
