East London-based letterpress studio A Two Pipe Problem Letterpress will be holding their first exhibition in Japan, "OLD LETTERS FROM LONDON," from the 15th of next month at the Paul Smith Space Gallery in Jingumae, Tokyo.
In addition to past works and collaborative works with Japanese artists, the exhibition will feature collaborative works in which letterpress prints are applied to Paul Smith fabrics. On the first day of the exhibition, studio owner Stephen Kenny will be visiting Japan to hold two workshops, at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
A Two Pipe Problem Letterpress was founded in 2008 and is based in Walthamstow, east London. The studio is known for its prints made using vintage wood type and presses from the 1800s and 1900s. While working on book covers, record covers and corporate branding for artists, he has also produced his own posters and greeting cards. His work has become so popular that it has been displayed in corners at London's Victoria & Albert Museum, the Design Museum and the long-established department store Liberty, and he is highly regarded not only in the UK but also in other European countries.
