Seven carefully selected roaster cafes gather for a coffee tasting event in Kanda Nishikicho

Oct 1, 2015

"COFFEE COLLECTION around KANADA NISHIKICHO 2015," a coffee event bringing together seven globally acclaimed roaster cafes, will be held on October 31st at the Terrace Square complex in Kanda Nishikicho. The event allows visitors to simultaneously taste and compare hand-dripped coffees prepared by baristas from seven carefully selected roaster cafes from Japan and abroad. The lineup includes "GLITCH COFFEE & ROASTERS," opened in April by Kiyokazu Suzuki, who has supported world barista champion Paul Bassett as chief barista and head roaster, and "Fuglen Tokyo," the first overseas branch of a coffee bar established in Norway, the coffee capital, in 1963. Each cafe will use the same brewing equipment and brew coffee under the same conditions, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the differences in flavor due to the characteristics of the beans, roasting methods, and brewing techniques used by each cafe. A tasting set called the "7 cups TICKET," which allows you to enjoy flavors from seven different coffee shops, will be available for 1,000 yen. Other attractions at the venue include a hand-drip seminar by the Japan Hand-Drip Champion, a tote bag brand using the burlap bags containing coffee beans from around the world, and a bakery/factory specializing in homemade bread. On October 31st, when the "Coffee Collection Around Kanda Nishikicho 2015" will be held, Kanda Nishikicho will also be hosting other events, including the "Kanda Used Book Festival," "Kanda Curry Grand Prix," "Kanda Sports Festival," and the art project "TRANS ARTS TOKYO." Whether you're enjoying the used book festival with a coffee in hand or sipping an after-dinner coffee after a delicious curry, you're sure to have a great time.
