Levi's collaborative jacket exhibition. Ben Venom's first solo exhibition in Japan.

Oct 25, 2015

San Francisco-based artist Ben Venom's first solo exhibition in Japan, "Don't Tread on Me," will be held at hpgrp Gallery Tokyo in Aoyama, Tokyo, from October 30th to November 28th.
Ben Venom's work fuses seemingly contradictory elements: outlaw imagery and quilts. By sewn into the unified quilt, he evokes the aggressiveness of impactful visuals with the warmth and comfort of quilts, and the masculine worldview of heavy metal and bikers with the feminine culture of embroidery. His work also embodies the three worlds of fine art, crafting, and counterculture.
Ben Venom's exhibition was held at the Levi Strauss Museum in Buttenheim, Germany, from July 25th to September 13th. This will be his first solo exhibition in Japan, and will feature two trucker jackets created in collaboration with Levi's. The collaboration was made possible by the shared sustainable spirit of both companies, who implement environmentally friendly manufacturing processes to minimize the burden on the earth.
