On October 21st, the Emporio Armani Sounds music event, which tours major cities around the world, took place at Act Square in Ebisu, Tokyo.
Emporio Armani Sounds is a music project launched in 2014, and each city's event is characterized by inviting artists renowned for their stylish musicality and strong affinity with fashion.
In 2015, Mark Ronson appeared as the main guest at the Milan event, and Little Dragon at the Munich event. At the 2014 event in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, UK electro-pop artist KINDNESS captivated an audience of approximately 800.
The performer at Act Square this time was the New York-based R&B duo Lion Babe. This male-female duo consists of Jillian Hervey, known as the daughter of actress Vanessa Williams, and producer Lucas Goodman. They released their debut single, "Treat Me Like Fire," in 2012. Their vocals and demeanor, reminiscent of Erykah Badu, immediately garnered attention, and they have since earned solid recognition through samples of Eunice Collins' "At the Hotel" and Nina Simon's "Mr. Bojangles." As proof of this, they signed with the UK label Outsiders Music shortly after their debut, and were also shown interest by Polydor Records in the UK and Interscope Records in the US, who backed the release of their debut EP, "Lion Babe."
In 2015, their third year since debut, the duo have grown to the point where they've been featured as notable newcomers in various media outlets, and they delivered a performance brimming with confidence on the 21st.
Jillian appeared on stage with her band members, where Lucas Goodman was waiting, and she instantly captivated the audience with her unforgettable looks and fashion that accentuated her individuality to the fullest. Then, when the song began, the audience heated up even more as she rode the waves of the music and played with the song with her whole body. The venue was engulfed in a whirlwind of joy for the night.
