An exhibition by young glass artist Yagi Asako, "Glass for Enjoying Color Matching," will be held at the shop "doine" in Aoyama, Tokyo, from July 25th to August 11th.
Yagi Asako uses a technique called "kiln work" with plate glass to create items characterized by soft colors and a cool texture like ice candy. Her works include accessories, objects, vases, and plates for meals.
This exhibition, which will be held at "doine" for the third time, continues the theme of "Glass for Enjoying Color Matching" from the previous exhibition. Based on the idea that "rather than choosing tableware to match the food, it should be fun to imagine the food and ingredients using the color and shape of the plate," the exhibition features a variety of items that are not only cute but also have the aspect of being graphic objects. In addition to plates (priced from 3,500 yen to 18,000 yen), accessories such as brooches (starting from 4,200 yen) and hair ornaments (starting from 3,600 yen) will also be available.
Regarding the exhibition, Yagi Asako commented, "Even if you're not at a restaurant, there are beautiful scenes that make you want to capture the moment. I hope to be able to help with this through glassware. I create my pieces using techniques that make use of the unique colors and textures of glass. This year, I'm creating pieces with a playful design in terms of shapes and patterns. I hope you will enjoy seeing the various expressions of the plates that will look great on your dining table."
