The "France Exhibition" opens at Isetan Shinjuku on April 16th. It features a wide selection of food, traditional French artisan goods, tableware, wine, and more. The exhibition runs until 3:00 PM on the 21st.
The "Sufflenheim Pottery" exhibit, featuring vibrant colors and a rustic warmth, has been produced in the small town of Soufflenheim in Alsace for over 850 years. Its charming designs are a testament to the tradition. Each piece is painted using a goose feather tool, and each piece is unique. The lineup includes decorative plates (7,500 yen), pot holders (4,200 yen), and decorative kouglof molds (3,200-3,500 yen), all of which can be enjoyed as interior décor.
... The venue will also host a lecture event featuring Professor Motoki Suda of Kyoritsu Women's University's Faculty of Literature, where he will teach the joys of pastel painting and how to use pastels. (Sessions will be held at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM on the 20th, approximately two hours each, reservations required.) Cartonnage photo frames, which means "cardboard craft" in French, will also be on display. This is a traditional French technique in which cardboard boxes are assembled and finished with paper and fabric. This event will feature items made using the cartonnage technique for sale, as well as a workshop on how to make them (sessions will be held at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM on April 19th, approximately two and a half hours each, participation fee: ¥18,360). A Limoges box featuring a three-dimensional ceramic depiction of Cinderella (¥30,000) is also a unique piece unique to the France exhibition. During the event, Jean-Pierre Lapaux will also be demonstrating painting, and a personalization service will be available for purchases of Limoges boxes. France is also known as a major wine-producing region, boasting top-class wine production and quality. This time, we will be offering a wide selection of wines from the vineyards of Alsace, a region blessed with plenty of sunshine and little rainfall. The Alsace wine "Gewurztraminer Mambourg SGN S2006" (8,500 yen), produced by Marc Tempe in his Grand Cru vineyards, will be sold in a limited quantity of 12 bottles. In addition, the Alsace wine "Sylvaner 2012" (2,400 yen) will be available in Japan for the first time, with only 48 bottles available. Winemakers and owners from wineries across France will be present at the venue to greet customers.
