ISSEY MIYAKE MEN has released a collaboration series with photographer Satoshi Fujiwara, titled "Code Unknown." Satoshi Fujiwara is a young photographer who began working in Berlin in 2012. He has exhibited in Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Sweden, and other countries, and in 2014 won the Stella Succi Award at the Japan Photo Awards. This collaboration series is inspired by Fujiwara's "Code Unknown" series, a collection of photographs he shot and edited as a homage to film director Michael Haneke, striving to keep individuals within the bounds of personal identity. Dynamic prints inspired by three of these works are featured on shirts, T-shirts, and bags. Furthermore, Hankyu MEN'S OSAKA, opening in early September, will be introducing three new pieces from Fujiwara's collection, along with exclusive merchandise.
Furthermore, a special exhibition by Satoshi Fujiwara, "Code Unknown," is currently being held at ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE / GINZA in Tokyo's Ginza district.
This special exhibition expresses the dangers and possibilities of photography as a medium. Fujiwara expresses the risk of infringing portrait rights inherent in the medium of photography, as well as the possibility of overcoming this problem through shooting methods and digital image processing, by continuously digitally reproducing portraits that have been processed to make individuals difficult to identify. By flooding the store with these works, Fujiwara creates the diverse atmosphere he felt in Berlin, where he photographed the works.
