The Isetan Shinjuku store will host the "Isetan Art & Creation Festa 2015" from August 12th to 24th. Following the first event held last year, this year's theme for the second event is "ART IS THE FUTURE." The aim is to create a new vision that transcends time and borders and highlights the limitless potential of creativity.
In line with this, the Living Floor will feature a unique theme, "Recommendations for the Edge," showcasing a variety of "edgy, cool" items created by up-and-coming young artists. The aim is to propose a "cool lifestyle" for women who are at the forefront of the times.
The event will be held at Center Park/The Stage #5 on the 5th floor of the store's main building. Eight artists will be creating items such as necklaces, pouches, and objects, as well as one artist in charge of interior decoration. The youngest of the eight artists is Shiori Ohfuku, who continues to create birds and small animals using ceramic techniques and materials. She's also renowned for her sensational, spiky works, and this spring, she won the grand prize at Zojoji Temple's "Tenmatsuri 108" in her first appearance, making her a highly anticipated artist. Task Q (Keiko Iida) is also garnering attention for her visualization of the "digital network" that depicts the communication breakdown felt by modern people. Her stunning artistic talent sublimates the anxieties and worries that arise because each person is unique into sci-fi paintings. On August 12, the first day of the exhibition, BAKIBAKI (Kohei Yamao), in charge of interior decor, will be performing a live painting session. Don't miss the live performance, where she manipulates masking tape to instantly decorate the venue. See for yourself how a Japanese-modern space is born in the blink of an eye. Other participating artists include Koga Takahiro, Maekawa Tani, Akabe Natsumi, Tamura Hajime, Yamada Ayako, and Yamada Hiroyuki. In response to the gathering of such unique artists, the manager at Isetan commented, "We hope that by coming and experiencing the works firsthand, you will find an artist and work that you like. We also hope that you will find a high level of appreciation for a sophisticated and cutting-edge lifestyle." Even on the living room floor, they were keen to promote "Isetan for Fashion."
