ISSEY MIYAKE MEN presented its Spring/Summer 2016 collection at the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris's 7th arrondissement. Designer Yusuke Takahashi incorporated the work of photographer Yoshinori Mizutani to create a look that embodies the brand's signature artistic vision. The series, inspired by Yoshinori Mizutani's "TOKYO PARROTS" photographs of wild parakeets living in Tokyo, featured vibrantly printed cotton shirts and jacquard jackets meticulously crafted with the photographs. Lightweight tweeds and knitwear, woven with slit yarns made from photograph-printed nonwoven fabric, also showcased the brand's signature innovative spirit. A vivid color-block series, inspired by Mexican architect Luis Barragán and Mexican cityscapes, combined hemp and cotton-linen pieces to create a striking spring/summer vibrancy.
In a series referencing Yoshinori Mizutani's "COLORS," which features fragmented photographs of the streets of Tokyo, the images were inkjet printed on cotton fabric, proposing a graphic street style. The collection skillfully expressed a mixture of art photography and fashion.
