A photo exhibition by world-renowned fashion designer and photographer Karl Lagerfeld, "VERSAILLES A L'OMBRE DU SOLEIL: The Light and Shadow of Versailles," will be held at the Chanel Nexus Hall in Ginza, Tokyo.

In 1987, Lagerfeld decided to step behind the lens himself to create Chanel's advertising campaigns. His works, imbued with his love for his subjects based on intuition and first impressions, have been published in prestigious fashion magazines and shown around the world.

This exhibition will be the first in Japan to feature selected works from his 2008 photo exhibition, "VERSAILLES A L'OMBRE DU SOLEIL: The Light and Shadow of Versailles." The exhibition features a number of works that depict the unconventional and intimate scenes of the Palace of Versailles through a cinematic worldview. The works are screenprinted on parchment-like paper and are simply mounted on the wall without glass or framing, allowing viewers to appreciate the texture of the paper and the fine details of the images. This exhibition method highlights Lagerfeld's emphasis on contrast.
