Fruit Parlor Goto, located on Hisago-dori Shopping Street, a short walk from Asakusa Station past Hanayashiki, is a long-established fruit parlor founded in 1946. Around seven different parfaits are always available, including the Fruit of the Day. Freshly squeezed fruit juice, fruit sandwiches, pancakes, and more are also available. The year-round menu also includes homemade jam and toast from the long-established bakery, Pelican! The blissful experience of smothering delicious jam on Pelican bread, which always sells out, is only possible thanks to the relationship between these two long-established Asakusa parlors.

The parfaits made by owner Koichi Goto continue to evolve every day. "We mainly purchase fruit from Ota Market, and depending on the variety, we purchase it directly from farmers in the producing area. Even if a variety didn't catch our eye last year, it often turns out to be surprisingly delicious the following year, so we try to collect a wide variety of fruit from all over the country," says Goto. The main focus is always fruit. The parfait is completed by combining it with jam, ice cream made from fruit, fresh cream, and syrup. All of the recipes are homemade. The jam recipe was inherited from the previous generation, but the ice cream is made from a recipe that Goto arrived at after much trial and error.


In December, we're introducing a strawberry parfait (¥1,230 including tax) featuring Amaou and Tochiotome strawberries. This red and white parfait features layers of fresh strawberries, smooth whipped cream, and crunchy strawberry ice cream. The balance of tart strawberries and rich cream is exquisite, and the portion is just right. Immersed in the bliss of enjoying a cold parfait in the warmth of the cafe, I quickly finished the whole thing. As soon as you finish eating it, you feel a sense of regret and anticipation arises, wondering what fruit will be next month and what kind of parfait Goto will use it in... With so many people captivated by Goto's parfaits, it's no wonder that the number of repeat customers is steadily increasing.



Goto was previously an employee in the design department of an advertising agency. After going independent, she helped out at her parents' fruit parlor on a side job, but decided to devote herself to making parfaits, teaching herself how to make them, and she continues to do so to this day. "I only serve dishes that I want to eat myself. I pay particular attention to the concentration of fresh cream and the combination of fruits in my parfaits. I think my experience as a designer has helped me to achieve a good balance in terms of color and presentation," she says with a smile. Goto herself loves parfaits, and whenever she has time she goes out to eat them and never fails to research them.

Fruit Parlor Goto is not proud of its long-established reputation, but instead single-mindedly pursues deliciousness and continues to hone its recipes. This is a place you'll want to visit every season to enjoy a parfait, not just while strolling around Asakusa.
