
Hotel New Otani will be holding the "Strawberry Fair 2017" from January 16th to March 31st, 2017, with a total of 23 different strawberry menu items available at 15 restaurants.
Pâtisserie Satsuki will be offering the "Extra Super Amaou Shortcake" (3,000 yen), the highest quality shortcake, with a limit of 10 per day until late April 2017. It uses eight 2L-sized "Hakata Amaou(R)" strawberries, making it 1.5 times the size of the Super Shortcake. The batter is made with almond milk and wasanbon sugar, which give it a pleasantly sweet taste, as well as brown rice eggs from eggs raised on brown rice. Other treats on offer include the "Super Shortcake" (1,200 yen), made only during the season when the super-sweet "Hakata Amaou®" strawberries are harvested, and the "Amaou Napoleon" (800 yen), a mille-feuille made with a special custard filled with plenty of vanilla beans, sandwiched between two "Hakata Amaou®" strawberries and topped with two more.
From December 1st to late April, SATSUKI will be offering the "New Otani Special Caramel Amaou Pancake" (2,800 yen), made with a combination of Italian ricotta, rice flour, almond milk, and brown rice eggs, baked until fluffy like a soufflé and caramelized on one side with wasanbon sugar. The "Strawberry Parfait" (2,000 yen), featuring strawberry jelly and "Hakata Amaou®," will also be available.
Other items on offer include "Strawberry Mitsumame" (1,500 yen), which combines the finest "Tamba black beans" with colorful agar and mizu yokan (sweet bean paste) of strawberries and melons, and "Hakata Amaou®," while Trader Vic's Tokyo offers the "Old Fashioned Strawberry Sauce" (1,800 yen), which uses plenty of "Tochiotome" strawberries and strawberry ice cream. Until February 28th, KATO'S DINING & BAR will be offering "Strawberry Zukuri" (2,000 yen), which combines strawberry jelly and sorbet with fresh whole strawberries and mascarpone cream. The Garden Lounge will offer the "Amaou English Tea Set" (1,800 yen), which features the hotel-made scone "English Tea Set" garnished with seasonal "Hakata Amaou®" strawberries, as well as the "Strawberry Shake" (1,800 yen), made with plenty of fresh strawberries. Taikanen will offer the "Almond Jin Pudding with Almond Milk Gelato and Strawberries" (1,400 yen), a popular almond jelly pudding topped with seasonal strawberries. A number of strawberry-infused cocktails will also be available. Bar Capri will offer the "Strawberry Pyramid" (3,000 yen), made with the finest seasonal strawberries, garnished with crème de cassis and whipped cream, and the "Marvelous Leonardo" (4,500 yen), a champagne cocktail made with fresh strawberries and a generous amount of Dom Pérignon. From December 1st to March 31st, 2017, VIEW & DINING THE Sky and sky BAR will be offering "Sky Road" (1,800 yen), fresh strawberries and black currants mixed with sparkling wine, and "Strawberry Garden" (1,500 yen), a non-alcoholic drink with strawberry flavor and the refreshing aroma of mint. TOWER BUFFET will offer two drinks: "Amaou Leonardo," a combination of Hakata Amaou® strawberries and champagne, and "Amaou Colada" (2,000 yen each, non-alcoholic: 1,500 yen), made with yogurt and coconut.
In addition, a strawberry menu will be available for takeout. Tour d'Argent will be offering "Tarte aux Fraises" (7,000 yen), a fragrant tart filled with plenty of vibrant strawberries and topped with mint jelly, for takeout. Taikanen will be selling "Kusa Ichigo Manju" (900 yen), a rich-flavored bun with a bean paste containing Hakata Amaou(R) compote and strawberries kneaded into the dough.
There will also be a variety of strawberry sweets available for buffet and lunch desserts. Bella Vista will be offering the "Seasonal Prix Fixe Course - Amaou Tart" (2,000 yen), a strawberry-filled dessert made with 11 whole Hakata Amaou(R) strawberries piled up on top of each other, while Sekishintei will be offering the "Winter Teppanyaki Ladies' Lunch - Strawberries and Hachijojima Jersey Gelato with Kudzu Sauce" (5,500 yen for men, 6,000 yen for men), which combines smooth milk gelato coated in kudzu with sweet and sour strawberries. Additionally, at the Rib Room, the final dessert of the ladies' lunch will be the "Winter Ladies' Steak Lunch - Panna Cotta with Strawberry Gelato" (3,500 yen for men, 4,500 yen for women), which combines vanilla-flavored panna cotta and strawberry gelato. At VIEW & DINING THE Sky, they will be offering the "Buffet Dessert - New Otani Special Pancakes with Amaou Sauce," an adaptation of the "New Otani Special Pancakes" offered in the dessert corner, with a sauce made using Hakata Amaou® strawberries.
