On December 23rd, Okayama-based design firm CIFAKA donated a large votive plaque measuring approximately 2 meters square, featuring the 2017 zodiac sign, the rooster, to Okayama Shrine in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture.
CIFAKA apparently donates a large votive plaque to Okayama Shrine every year. This marks the fifth time they have done so, and this time they collaborated with the design unit COCHAE to create the large votive plaque. The plaque is filled with the face of a rooster, with distinctive features such as its beak and crest expressed in three dimensions. The plaque also has approximately 500 linear holes through which worshippers can insert their own rooster-shaped votive plaques, specially prepared for the Year of the Rooster. The plaque is designed so that each time a worshipper visits, the votive plaque inserted becomes the wings of the large votive plaque.
