Our flagship store in Ebisu, Tokyo, NADiff Apartment (1-18-4 Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, 1F NADiff A/P/A/R/T), where we run our weekly Thursday column "The Book You Should Read Now," once again introduced us to many books in 2016.
To conclude the year, five staff members at NADiff Apartment will be presenting their "best of books published in 2016," one book per day until the 31st! On the third day, staff member K will be selecting the best of 2016.
My Tools by Ishikawa Naoki (Heibonsha)
From the polar regions to the cities... Ishikawa Naoki is a photographer who travels the world. This book is a collection of essays about 96 pieces of equipment, primarily those he used during his long-term expedition to K2 in the summer of 2015. "There are no rules for choosing tools. You just have to choose what suits your body on the spot," says Ishikawa. The tools featured in the book are exactly as the title suggests, "My Tools," chosen by Ishikawa from his unique perspective based on his many travel experiences. Interwoven with little anecdotes from his travels, the book gives the reader the feeling of getting a glimpse into a moment of harsh adventure in the polar regions. It's a book that can be enjoyed by both mountaineering and travel enthusiasts, and those who aren't. Naoki Ishikawa is a photographer who is always in the spotlight. This book allows you to learn about his work through his tools. The binding is also carefully designed, so we wanted to introduce it to you so that you can pick it up in stores.
